Updated to include audio and disclosure. The Media Dealmakers Summit organized by media investment bank DeSilva & Phillips is happening today in NYC, at the magnificent Pierre Hotel. (Disclosure: DaSilva & Phllips is a sponsor of paidContent.org and paid my travel expenses as a conference speaker.) The keynote was by Michael Kelly, President of AOL Networks, where he talked about the general uptick in the online media industry and AOL plans. Nothing groundbreaking in the speech, but a decent overview of AOL’s efforts in the changing advertising landscape.
One of his lines I did like: “The world is changing from distributors having the world as their oyster to content owners becoming paramount…the only thing is it is becoming fuzzy who the content owners are.”
Next up, I am interviewing Martin Nisenholtz, head of New York Times Digital…should be fun. Report on that later.
