Germany To Miss World Cup Broadcast On Mobile

Broadcast mobile TV won’t be ready in Germany in time to handle the Football World Cup according to an executive from German telco Deutsche Telekom AG.
“One of the biggest unresolved issues, Pauly said, is the choice of technology. Two standards are competing: DMB (Digital Media Broadcasting) and DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting – Handheld)…”The DMB standard has certain advantages, such as an available frequency, but DVB-H has other technical benefits, such as capacity,” Pauly said…Because of available frequencies, German broadcast authorities are currently allocating frequencies to companies that want to test DMB-based mobile TV services.”
For the games T-MObile is planning a special streamed mobile TV service, so if you have that service you can watch Australia win the final on your mobile phone…
