PureVideo — which runs the GrindTV.com and StupidVideos.com sites — will test an ad-supported model for its mobile video content, which had previously been available only to paid subscribers. The ad agency being used is Starcom USA which has grabbed Nintendo as the first advertiser. “A :05 pre-roll ad shows game play with a “sponsored by” message. A :15 bookend containing a full commercial runs after the video.”
Indicative of the industry not really knowing whether consumers would prefer ad-supported video content or ad-free and paid-for video content PureVideo offers both choices, which is probably the best way to go…
