Graphic chip maker ATI has reported that demand for mobile TV and video is outpacing demand for 3D games. “We have been pushing 3-D for handsets, but it will take a while longer. Meanwhile, mobile TV seems to be moving ahead faster in cell phones,” said Azzedine Boubguira, director of marketing for ATI’s handheld group.”
A year ago there was a lot of buzz around 3D games being the next big thing, but that seems to have died down now, although 3D games are often the most popular on high-end services.
ATI also notes that the mobile TV craze is spilling beyond handsets and into other devices. I think TV will lead the way of other mobile content in this regard — mobile content in general will begin to appear in other devices.
