: Gregg Spiridellis told a few dozen people this morning — and by extension, all of you — that JibJab Media is on the verge of introducing social networking functions as part of the studio’s plans to create an “online humor destination” with JibJab as the umbrella brand. This is no buzzword-come-lately move. Unlike other companies now integrating social nertworking, the self-funded Spiridellis brothers gained fame and fortune when their core community saw “This Land” and spread the word; they’ve nurtured the growing community all along the way. Spiridellis admitted he probably shouldn’t have mentioned the upcoming plans and avoided details.
The destination/social plans are part of a goal to keepJibJab from being known forever as the “dancing president collage guys.” More to come.
