Channel 7 has signed up Hyro Limited and AURA Digital to showcase their involvement with the Australian Open by using mobile adver-gaming combined with Hypertags. The idea combines several types of mobile marketing/content, which is great in that it is more evidence companies are beginning to see different mobile content as inter-related rather than disparate solos.
An Adshel post site in Federation Square in Melbourne has a Hypertag poster related to Channel 7’s coverage of the Australian Open (a tennis tournament).
“For this campaign, by activating the infra-red capabilities on their mobile and pointing it at the Hypertag, consumers can receive a free Australian Open tennis mobile game — a cleverly recreated version of the classic pong. At the end of the game players are prompted to SMS their score to a high score leader-board which is displayed on the 7 website. Scores are then ranked in order revealing who the national champion is. At the conclusion of the campaign Channel 7 will be able to measure the number of consumer interactions to gauge the success of the campaign.”
Even if they’re not interested in tennis a free mobile version of Pong is not to be sneezed at…
