Network Live Announces First Mobile Parter, Exclusive In Europe With O2

Again, I would point out the folly of doing exclusive deals in the mobile content market so close to the inflection point of the market taking off. But anyway, the high-profile live concert venture Network Live –joint venture between America Online, XM Satellite Radio and AEG– has announced its first European mobile partner (in UK, Ireland and Germany): O2…users of the European operator will get video and audio mobile content from artists Network Live has presented such as Greenday, Bon Jovi, plus many more throughout 2006 and 2007.
The agreement with Network Live will also give O2 customers the opportunity to preview the type of mobile music that will be available from acts that will play The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome) when it opens in 2007. The deal forms part of O2 and concert company AEG’s partnership to transform The O2 into the “UK’s most exciting and technically advanced entertainment destination”.
FT: Grahame Riddell, O2’s head of content marketing, said the company was not charging for its early offerings, and it was unclear what consumers would be willing to pay for such a service.
