TMCNet: State-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has introduced asynchronous digital subscriber line system offering broadband service on fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) platform. This should mean the last mile connectivity is through fibre unlike in other instances where it’s through normal copper cable.
BSNL’s service is now limited to areas with high density of broadband users like industrial townships, commercial complexes, and major roads. BSNL has provided the service to 300 areas in Karnataka circle. It has provided 62,352 connections to its DataOne broadband service in the circle, and has targeted at adding two lakh broadband connections by 2006-2007.
