So Time Inc has made an acquisition after a long time (the last one I can think of was Business 2.0): it has bought out golf news site Golf.com for an undisclosed amount. Golf.com parent company SirenServ (which was also bought) was owned by a media group including founders NBC Universal, New York Times Co. and private investors.
Time Inc already has a portfolio of golf-related magazines and sites, including Golf magazine, GolfOnline, Sports Illustrated Golf Plus and SI.com’s Golf Plus. Golf.com will be run by the company’s Time4 Media division under Golf magazine publisher Chris Wightman.
AP: Golf.com has an average of 1.3 million unique visitors monthly. The site carries coverage of news and developments of gold around the world. The site also sells a fee-based membership program that allows eligible golfers to track playing performances.
