You can either call this a sign of times to come, or a gimmick. Whatever it is, the dynamics are interesting: India’s biggest media group Times Group has launched its 24-hour English news channel TimesNow (it is a joint venture with Reuters), not on TV/cable, but on mobile first. It launched today on the local operator behemoth Reliance Infocomm’s network. The channel goes live for the TV viewers in the next few days.
