@ NATPE Mobile++: Mobile TV Update From Sprint’s Burris

No specific numbers but John Burris, director of wireless data services for Sprint, during a “fireside chat” (sans fireside) says the company’s paying video subs would put it in the top 10 MSOs. One reason — Sprint didn’t — and still doesn’t — wait for what he calls the “end game.” It’s almost a spaghetti-on-the-wall approach. (My words, not his.) “We’re trying not to answer our own questions … If the cost isn’t too high, and our partners are wiling, let’s try it out.” Case in point: while others talk about whether or no long-form will work on mobile, Burris says Sprint partner MSpot has “cracked the code” for putting movies on phones. Sprint started offering MSpot Movies late last year.
