Digital Music To Account For 30 Per cent Of Indian Music Industry By 2010


The Financial Express: The article says digital music will gain popularity in India in the future. The market for mobile music downloads (ringtones, true tones, ring-back tones), which stood at Rs 35-50 crore in 2004, is now worth Rs 155-160-odd crore (some peg it at Rs 200 crore too). That’s about 15 per cent of the Rs 1,000-1,100 crore industry.

According to music industry estimates, by 2010, digital delivery will comprise 30 per cent of the business. –
