Niall Kennedy reports that hackers called Bantown have hijacked 46% of LiveJournal’s active accounts, over 900,000 total. Live Journal is one of the earliest blog-based social networking communities and is owned by Six Apart, which has not posted any official information on this hack. Hopefully we should hear from them soon. Niall is channeling The Washington Post. “LiveJournal users were alerted to the problem when McAfee Internet Security Suite installed on their machines threw up warning messages about a possible exploit,” Niall says.
