Ziff Davis COO Bart Catalane, who has been in this position at the company for four year now, is leaving at the end of this month, the company announced in an internal memo today, obtained by paidContent.org. Bart will remain on the company’s board.
This comes after Derek Irwin left as CFO in August last year, to join VNU.
According to the memo from CEO Robert Callahan: “Not long ago, we completed reorganizing ZD into three operating groups: Consumer/Small Business Group, our Game Group & our Enterprise Group. Each now has their own President & accomplished team. These teams are already off and running in 2006 producing valuable products & services working closely with our key customers.”
This might be a more positive spin than the reality, where the company’s print revenues have been tanking, and the company is trying to transform itself into an online-heavy one. The company’s print arm’s revenues declined 10 percent in Q3 last year, while the online side was up by 23 percent. The Q4 numbers will come out soon, so we will know more then. Or, you can just take Callahan’s word…
I would think ZD would be an acquisition target from some bigger companies looking to get into tech lifestyle, or would be good for the private equity guys.
