Digital Music Bits: UMG Opens Archives; MusicNet On TVs

UMG’s “Goldenish” Oldies To Be Digitized: Universal Music Group plans to revive more than 100,000 European tracks that are no longer available in physical form for digital downloading on services such as iTunes service. The revived Universal albums are expected to sell online for about $8.50.

MusicNet on TVs: MusicNet will provide programming for the on-demand music service and make its catalog of licensed digital music tracks and videos available to Aeon Digital’s online network subscribers in the US, UK and Canada. AD has developed its line of set-top boxes, a family of Internet-connected DVRs that can stream and download music and movies.
