One of the biggest indie music distributors, The Orchard, which recently formed a mobile division to start distributing mastertones etc, has signed up four partners for distribution. GroupieTunes, Mobiletoolbox, Summus, and Xingtone will every Orchard ringtone available to their respective customer bases.
According to the contract, between 15 percent to 50 percent of all non-major label placements on these services will be sourced from Orchard labels and artists.
The Orchard’s partnership with Xingtone (which allows to make ringtones from song files) will allow Orchard artists and labels to offer ringtones directly to their fans.
Also, the indie distributor is distributing full-track songs to the newly-launched full-track service from Verizon Wireless…
