Couple of new senior appointments in UK:
– Google Appoints First UK MD: Google is poised to appoint former TV sales chief Mark Howe as its first UK managing director. Howe quit Flextech TV sales house IDS last summer after nearly 13 years Howe will be responsible for maintaining relationships with major advertisers and will lead Google’s expansion onto new platforms, including mobile.
– Fremantle names new-media chief: UK TV biggie FremantleMedia has moved swiftly to plug the gap in the ranks of its New Platforms division, opened up last week when CEO Catherine Mackay revealed she was quitting. It has promoted Gary Carter, senior exec VP of Worldwide Entertainment, to the new position of New Platforms chief creative officer. In his new role, Carter will be responsible for creating new brands and concepts specifically for new platforms such as mobile, broadband, game consoles and IPTV.
