London-based online skill and gaming firm Fun Technologies, which is now majority-owned by John Malone’s Liberty Media, has bought out Tucson, AZ-based mobile and online game studio Octopi. The sale price is $3 million upfront with earnout of another $3 million.
Fun’s subsidiary SkillJam did the deal…SkillJam is a private-label gaming solutions for destination sites, including AOL, MSN’s Zone.com and Virgin Games.
Octopi’s 2005 unaudited profit before tax was about $0.8 million. It has built games for Nokia, Paramount, SBC, Sony Ericsson and T-Mobile, among others.
