Deep Kalra, CEO & founder of India’s leading travel ticketing portal Makemytrip.com has a question to the sceptics who complain that there is no online market in India owing to a scanty population having access to the internet: “Where are the sellers online?” asks Kalra.
The fact is the online business is growing in India. From Rs 430 crore in ’03-’04 it went up to Rs 520 crore in ’04-’05 and we expect it to reach up to Rs 1,180 crore this year, says Kalra. The major pie of the online business is still occupied by the traveling industry in India which is about 70 per cent of total online transactions.
