Bollywood Eyes International For Mobile Content

India is booming — don’t take my word for it, take Rafat’s. However, it’s still a relatively small market, especially for 3G mobile content. Bollywood is keen to get around this by targeting overseas fans… “Hungama Mobile, for one, has tied up with 37 telecom service providers in 14 countries. “As of now 85% of our traffic comes from 20 countries and our target is to focus on these 20 countries with a 360 degree approach,” says Neeraj Roy, CEO and MD, Hungama Mobile.”
One CEO of a Bollywood studio said one of the problems with Bollywood content “is there is very little recall value associated with Bollywood films”. This could be true, but comparing them to “Star Wars” is misleading. Most Hollywood movies don’t have much recall value either…
