The mobile search investment space is heating up for sure: U.S. publishing house Gannett (which has 99 daily newspapers with a combined daily circulation of 7.6 million) has bought a minority share of mobile search company 4INFO. Naturally the financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but Gannett plans to ensure its investment is a success by using Palo Alto, CA-based 4INFO’s services in its papers.
This follows a trial that occured in October last year, which was apparently successful.
“4INFO will, once again, receive placement in relevant sections of the USA TODAY such as Sports, Weather and Finance, to name a few. These placements will advertise the ability to get real-time information for the respective 4INFO search categories via our shortcode, 44636.” The deal will start with USA Today and be introduced across Gannett’s other newspaper and broadcast operations, including Captivate Network.
The press release is here.
