Digital Summit 06: Reliance Entertainment Plans Big Digital Entertainment Foray

Reports by our stringer Radhika in Mumbai
Reliance Entertainment is now foraying into an entirely new genre of entertainment through mobile phones. The entertainment division, Anil Ambani’s brainchild, is going to target its 17 million mobile users as a ready market for the company’s other other entertainment products too. Having already entered into the production of entertainment programmes through Ad Labs, Reliance is now planning to open multiplexes across the nation as the company sees potential in cross marketing its products to its mobile subscriber base.
The company’s estimates say that there are 13,000 cinema houses and multiplexes in India, 100 million television sets, 12 million PCs and 80 million (Ed: according to TRAI or the Telecom Authority of India, it’s 75 million) mobile phone users. -
