– Mackay quits Fremantle for web: Less than six months after being handed the job of spearheading FremantleMedia’s push into new media in the US, Catherine Mackay has quit the company to become CEO of an as-yet-undisclosed search engine company.
– Jay Boberg to Launch Liberation Entertainment: Former MCA Records chief Jay Boberg, with the backing of PE firm Clarity Partners, has acquired Liberty International Entertainment and its library of films and TV programming and is relaunching the company as Liberation Entertainment. “It’s the potential our library holds for the new digital delivery formats highlighted last week at CES that make this acquisition so exciting.”
– CHUM Showcases Original Products, HD, Mobile Content: At NATPE, CHUM International is unveiling a slate of original programming as well as its largest-ever offering of high-definition and mobile content.
– Cellcast, Shenzhen phone in TV format: UK TV company Cellcast is dipping its toe in the potentially lucrative China market with the launch of a joint venture with Shenzhen New Power Technology to develop and distribute interactive TV entertainment.
– Screentime bows content division: Australian production company Screentime has launched a media content division for mobile and broadband channels. It will be run by Greg Thorpe who has been at the Seven Network.
