Yahoo CFO Sue Decker had a chance during a post-earnings interview with MarketWatch’s Bambi Francisco to smack down rumors about Yahoo Media Group head Lloyd Braun. Instead, she sounded like someone laying foundation or even in the midst of negotations. This followed Chairman and CEO Terry Semel’s downplaying of the original entertainment efforts during the earnings call.
Francisco: “There are a number of credible sources saying Mr. Braun has resigned to join Paramount. Would you comment?”
Decker: “I’ll just say that Lloyd’s assembled a great team. We’ve had great successes in YMG this year — #1 in news, music, finance, video, streaming. Very excited about ’06; he’s very excited about ’06. Couldn’t comment about any specific issues related to Lloyd but we’re very excited about the opportunity in content and LA and about his leadership.”
Francisco: “Would it be accurate to say we can be assured that Mr. Braun will be at Yahoo six months from now.
Decker: “I can’t forcast any employee will be at Yahoo but we’ve just been voted one of the top 100 places to work so I imagine most of our employees will be here.”
