A who’s who of private equity firms is bidding en masse for Dutch media group VNU, according to the company. The consortium includes AlpInvest Partners, The Blackstone Group, The Carlyle Group, Hellman & Friedman, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., Permira and Thomas H. Lee Partners. The non-binding bid is EUR 28.00 to 28.50 per common share — up to $8.8 billion. VNU opened itself up for takeover with a failed bid for IMS Health Inc. Joe Mandese has a good breakdown.
