– The point number one is that India is betting big on WiMax for driving its broadband growth.
– India has had the best of broadband growth in 2005. The year started with just 49,000 broadband subscribers, and ended with 835,000 according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) , a 17-fold increase. It may be just 0.01 per cent of the population but 17-fold growth is not bad at all.
– 1 in 8 Internet connections is broadband – (Going by TRAI’s (6.1 million by November 2005) and Tonse Telecom (6.9-7.1 million by end of December 2005) estiamtes of total internet connections in India by end of December).
