TiVo: Strong Branding Doesn’t Guarantee Fiscal Success

TiVo was visible but unchacteristically quiet at CES. Still, the company has made great strides since the last CES — a new CEO and president in Tom Rogers, a, important deal with Comcast, portability including TiVo To Go on iPods and PSPs. Despite the name recognition and the new strategy, TiVo could still end up winning battles and losing the war. From BW’s brandchannel: “The fear among analysts is that TiVo, undoubtedly a strong brand, is another classic example of a pioneer paving the path only to be steamrolled by the competition.” The hope: that innovation will win out.
