The Steve Jobs Show at Macworld is running a tad late. Engadget, the Mac Observer and others are blogging live from the event — Apple isn’t imposing the blog blackout used for the video iPod announcement — but the WiFi network appreas to be overwhelmed. We’ll have updates.
– From Mac Observer: “Steve announced that some 42 million iPods have been sold, and 850 million songs have been downloaded. In addition, iTunes has 83% market share.”
– The only content announcement so far appears to be previously leaked SNL.
– Engadget: More than 8 million videos downloaded since Oct. 12. First $1 billion retail quarter. 26 million visitors to stores.
– Engadget: “Chrysler is the first american manufacture to offer iPod integration on their models. In 2006 over 40% of the cars sold in 2006 will offer iPod integration.”
– Sounds like Disney’s ESPN and ABC Sports got some Jobs love. The condensed version of the national championship Rose Bowl is number one at the iTunes store. (Don’t know if Jobs mentioned it but the Orange Bowl is #5, Fiesta Bowl #10, Sugar Bowl, #31. At one point, the first three were all in the top 5 and all four were in the top 25.)
– So far, the big iPod announcement is a remote FM tuner.
– More about the keynote soon. In the meantime, with the keynote over, Apple’s front page now carries this banner: “What’s an Intel chip doing in a Mac? A whole lot more than it’s ever done in a PC.”
