Yahoo has tied up with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide (owners of Sheraton) to open up Internet lounges in two Sheraton hotels. Dubbed Yahoo Link@Sheraton, the lounges opening today in the lobbies of two hotels, and will be part business center, part Internet cafe. Two other hotels will have free Wi-Fi in rooms. All four will have customized Yahoo homepages. If succesful, after six month, will be expanded across more hotels.
Lounges is an overkill, if you ask me. All they had to do was to give free-wifi in hotel rooms, and say it is courtesy Yahoo. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. But then, these branding people have to justify their salaries, don’t they?
