Government-owned Telco MTNL Hopes To Get 15 Per cent of Its Revenues From Value Added Services

The Economic Times: The state-run telco MTNL, which operates in Mumbai and Delhi circles, is aiming to double its revenues from value added services to 15 per cent of its total revenue in 2006-07.

“We currently get six per cent of our revenue from value added services and are adding more such services to get up to 15 per cent in the next fiscal,” said MTNL Executive Director A K Arora.

MTNL’s value added services include SMS, Interactive Voice Response System, General Packet Radio Services and Caller Ring Back Tones. The stress to earn more revenue from non-voice segment is inevitable as mobile calling rates has been falling.
