The Product Manager will drive new product initiatives related to MarketWatch.com network within all Company areas–Editorial, Technology, and Business. The ideal candidate is both strategic and detail-oriented, has proven product management experience, and is equally comfortable working with editors, engineers and sales people.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
– Passionate about online media, investing & product development
– Define and prioritize business requirements for new products and enhancements (features, functionality, timelines);
– Ability to set product direction, work closely with technical development leads, and make strategic tradeoffs to ensure speed to market;
– Evaluate new product opportunities for Company fit from audience, editorial, and technology perspective;
– Perform strategic business analysis to demonstrate ROI and P&L impact of products;
– Drive audience research and feedback regarding usage and behavior of financial content;
– Work closely with Technology, Editorial, and Business teams to deliver compelling new products on time;
– Function as the key stakeholder for MarketWatch.com site new product standardization and optimization;
– Collaborate with Ad Sales, Marketing, Licensing, and Design on the definition of new products characteristics such as presentation, placement, and technical implementation;
– Collaborate with the technical production team to identify applicable technical functionality to incorporate into existing or newly developed products;
– Document product specifications and functional requirements;
– Project-manage public sites engineers on the development of the technical requirements from the specification phase to product launch;
– Project-manage the development and implementation of new products on all site launches and channel enhancements;
– Define development schedule and milestones;
– Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
– Extensive past experience defining product requirements for websites;
– Strong interpersonal, analytic and communication skills a must;
– Proven ability to work with a Technology organization;
– Strong technical background a big plus;
– Extensive usage of financial content (News, Data, and Tools);
– Proven success leading cross-functional teams and product launches;
– Highly strategic as well as detail oriented;
– Past experience leading qualitative and quantitative consumer research preferred;
– Media and/or brokerage experience a plus;
– A passion for financial content and web technology a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work environment is a fast-paced office. Product Managers work on a computer at least 75% of the day. Product Managers will often work with team members in different locations and will need to be able to manage remotely using email, phone and other communications available. Some travel to on-site meetings is required.
