THQ’s wireless division, THQ Wireless, has undergone some major restructuring, MocoNews.net has learned. Tim Walsh, the president of THQ Wireless, is out, and the division is being restructured under Doug Clemmer, head of THQ’s jewel case CD-ROM publisher ValuSoft. Many other top executives have left…from what I heard, the division had about 60 employees, though I may be wrong on that…(Someone else told me they had close to 150 employees at one point)
Walsh has been the president of the division since 2003 (the division was formed in 2001, way earlier than other gaming publishers)…not sure where he has gone after this. We tried speaking to THQ PR people last week, but couldn’t really get any material information out of them. So be it…
Some more news should come out in the next 2-3 weeks as the company gears up for earnings announcement.
Anyway, after the restructuring, I expect THQ to be making some acquisition in the EA-Jamdat mode…usual suspects like Digital Chocolate, Glu, Iplay and others…
