There’s a new mobile content portal in the offering, FeverMobile.com. It’s run by Kargo, which previously provided content to brand names like Weekly World News and TV Guide and also carriers. Fevermobile (the press release is here, but there’re not individually linked so you need to scroll down) seems to be a fairly standard portal with some subscription offerings which roll-over the credits from month to month, but there is one interesting thing: “One exclusive application is the Fever Player, an application that enables users to download the raw studio parts from an artist’s recording session and then remix the tracks and save them as ringtones.” Getting access to an artists recording session will be a big attraction for some people…
Kargo has also signed up Getty Images to provide images for two applications: Red Carpet (which enables users to view daily images of celebs) and Game Day (which has images of players and sports events from around the globe). This is an interesting development (although I’m not sure it’s unique) because it gives Getty Images another audience apart from magazines and newspapers and the like. It’s an interesting mobile application which some consumers will love on their mobiles, and if it develops personalization aspects so that people can elect to receive all the pictures of a particular person or event it could really take off…
Heavy.com has also launched a mobile division for its irreverent short videos, and claims a high advertiser interest in mobiles. “For mobile offerings, Green expects to offer more interstitial and banner ads, with less clutter than on a typical Web page, due to the smaller size of the real estate. “On cell phones, the ad offerings will be more targeted, and far fewer,” he said.”
Mobile games distributor Mobileload.com has also announced it is launching in the US.
