The Marketing Manager, Promotions and Buzz Marketing will be responsible for creating exciting, creative and unique online and offline promotions that drive subscriber acquisition, members, and usage of The Wall Street Journal Online, Barron’s Online and MarketWatch. This will include:
– Thinking “outside the box” to devise and implement online and off-line promotions that drive new site traffic, pageviews and subscriptions with specific success criteria and revenue goals in mind.
– Managing promotional marketing partnership relationships and leveraging current Ad Sales and Business Development resources to best execute upon new promotional strategies.
– Performing quantitative analysis including (1) evaluating current promotional acquisition marketing efforts and analyzing metrics (2) evaluating ROI and effectiveness of programs (3) determining newly acquired consumer behavior/ usage based on promotions
– Working closely with Circulation Marketing, On-site Marketing, Brand Marketing, Retention, E-commerce Billing, PR, Product Development, and Customer Service to implement effective promotional communication strategies that improve acquisition and drive traffic.
– Managing strategy and logistics for offline events that may include street teams, launch events and tradeshows.
– Project managing internal teams (such as technology, editorial, analysis, and ad sales) as well as external vendors and marketing partners.
– Creating analytical reports for senior management
– Helping to set priorities and oversee marketing projects
– May include working with the ad and promotions agency and supporting agency project execution
Position is located in South Brunswick, NJ but will also involve meetings in Manhattan and San Francisco offices
Position Requirements:
– 7-10 years of experience, including ideally at least 2 years of online and offline promotions / buzz marketing, with at least 3-5 years general marketing experience, industry-related preferred i.e. online, subscriptions, and/or publishing. Excellent project management skills a must. Ad agency and online experience recommended. Publishing/Circulation experience a plus.
– Bachelor’s degree required, in marketing or business administration preferred, MBA is a plus. Analytical, solid quantitative and forecasting skills. Includes ideally a good knowledge of break-even, cost-benefit, lifetime value. Computer proficiency a must: PowerPoint and excel a plus.
