Whoa…we knew it was high, but this is right up there with the likes of, believe me, Unilever. Verisign-owned Jamster, the creator of the Crazy Frog ringtone, spent about $ 80 million on advertising in the UK last year, reports Times UK, far more than Marks & Spencer and Asda. This makes it the 22nd largest adverter in 2005 in UK.
Jamster’s spent only $0.7 million on internet advertising, more than $50 million on its TV campaign and more than $28 million on press adverts, figures from Nielsen Media Research reveal. No wonder that Crazy Frog ringtone was by far the year’s bestseller, taking 31 per cent of the British ringtones market, now worth about $230 million. Sweetie Chick’s Tweet Tweet, another strange animal from Jamster, was the year’s second-biggest selling ringtone.
