NTT DoCoMo is set to invest $300 million in Philippine dominant carrier PLDT, according to an AFP report which quoted Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo disclosing the information on nationally televised program with her Cabinet.
There were no further details given and it could just be an accounting swap between NTT Communications and its affiliate DoCoMo, but I bring it up because for the past few months DoCoMo has made a number of acquisitions which have all been based on supporting its mobile content (and in one case its billing practices). This doesn’t seem to have anything like that, but it could be worth keeping an eye on.
