CES: Net Companies Storm Into Home Arena

So thinks everyone and News.com, though I still think that’s for next year…this year is too early. Anyway, both Google and Yahoo honchos are giving keynotes at CES, so that’s at least a good sign. Next year I expect to see Murdoch’s net team, so will Diller’s team be there and other online companies…the content will come then. For now, it is all intent…

As this story says, the speeches by Larry Page and Terry Semel make a lot of sense, because their long-running search engine brawl is headed to a consumer device near you.

The question, of course, is just how they plan to do it. They’re already working on search technologies for video, TV and music. It wouldn’t be a stretch to drop that technology into some sort of device. The there’s all kinds of speculations and half-specultations about Google appliances and Yahoo-Tivo etc…

NewsFactor: “We will be demonstrating how consumers can use Yahoo throughout their lives,” said Leverich. Visitors will be able to download Yahoo photos, messages, and music onto their mobile phones. They also will see how they can access Yahoo through their
TiVo boxes and make Voice over IP calls via their computers using Yahoo Instant Messenger.
