Exchange4Media.com: FM radio rush is for real. Within a week of release of the first list of 70 companies who qualified for the bidding for FM radio Phase II, the Information & Broadcast Ministry has announced another list of 14, taking the total number of companies to 84. Apparently, another such list would be announced within the next few days and it’s likely that the number would be close to 100 then.
As is known, the first list was declared on December 26, 2005. The list comprises names of companies who had submitted pre-qualification bids for FM radio broadcasting services through private agencies (Phase II) in response to a tender notice dated September 21, 2005, and have then qualified to submit financial bids for the regions or categories of cities indicated by them in their applications.
While the first list unveiled 70 names, the second list has 14 – taking the total to 84 bidders at present. In addition to players like Radio Mid-Day West (India) Pvt Ltd, the second list includes Kalinga Builders Pvt Ltd, Mavis Satcom Ltd, Dynamic Tarang (P) Ltd, Silver Star Communication Ltd, Kushal Global Ltd, Singla Property Dealers Pvt Ltd, City Sound and Music Pvt Ltd, Clear Media India Private Ltd, Music Broadcast Pvt Ltd, SST Media Pvt Ltd, Mayajal Entertainment Ltd, Lahari Recording Company Pvt Ltd and Cyberspace Ent Network Pvt Ltd.
So radio market is ready for another boom, and hopefully a long lasting one this time.
