Just spotted this — not a huge deal but a reminder that flash drives can be about more than storing personal data. Lexar Media is adding Google apps Picasa, Google Desktop Search and Google Toolbar to its USB flash drives starting in January; it’s a first for both companies. Users will be offered the option to install the Google apps automatically; once installed, the apps are removed from the flash drive. Lexar says it will make it easier for users to search their JumpDrive. Google gets the chance for even more ubiquity. Press release.
