Once upon a time, it was AOL investing in fledgling Google, an investment that netted Time Warner a tidy sum when GOOG went public. Now Google is putting $1 billion into AOL as part of a comprehensive five-year search advertising deal that builds on the existing three-year-old agreement. The line from the companies in a joint press release: the agreement “creates a global online advertising partnership” and “makes more of AOL’s industry-leading content available to Google users.” Press release.
