Telefonica Gets Regional New Media Rights For World Cup Soccer

Telefonica has bagged new media broadcast rights covering all 64 matches of the 2006 FIFA World Cup for almost all territories in Latin and South America. The deal, which consists of mobile and online rights, allows for coverage of an unlimited number of near-live and/or delayed video clips of key footage such as goals. The package will be exploited in Spanish and Portuguese languages through mobile networks affiliated to Telefonica Moviles and through the Terra Networks Group for online.
