Christopher Marangi, analyst, Gabelli & Co.: “[Rupert Murdoch] has done a land grab basically and bought some of the most valuable remaining Internet real estate. The market doesn’t seem to like it, but it’s hard to second-guess Mr. Murdoch, given his success in, for example, breaking into the network business and what he has done in satellite in Europe and in the US. So I would give him the benefit of the doubt that he can make this work. Right now, his strategy does seem a bit unfocused in the sites that he has purchased.”
Marangi’s comments and his take on the stock are in an excerpt from The Wall Street Transcript’s Broadcast and Entertainment issue. He’s not alone with the suggestion that the FIM acquisitions are unfocused but I admit I’m not sure why it’s so difficult to see the pattern.
