UTStarcom, Inc has bagged an expansion contract from the state-owned telco BSNL to deploy 90,000 lines of its IP-based Digital Subscriber Line Access solution in the operators broadband network. This contract represents an expansion on a previously announced deployment of its related equipment for the second phase of BSNL’s National Internet Backbone project.
The operator’s goal is to construct a network across 198 cities in India to provide reliable always on high-speed Internet connectivity and other value-added services and applications. UTStarcom’s IP-DSLAM platform is a key enabler for BSNL’s triple play services strategy, a statement from UTStarcom said.
“Much like our relationship with Softbank in Japan, BSNL has grown to become a showcase of UTStarcom’s broad product portfolio as they continue to depend on our innovative, IP-based solutions in order to expand their growing nationwide broadband network across India,” UTStarcom, Inc. South Asia operations managing director Vijay Yadav said.
