If you are looking for some good indie music but hate DRM then check out eMusic. They work on a subscription model with three levels of participation:
- eMusic Basic: $9.99 per month/40 downloads
- eMusic Plus: $14.99 per month/65 downloads
- eMusic Premium: $19.99 per month/90 downloads
The audio files are standard MP3s with no DRM whatsoever and the music you download never times out and you can put it on whatever devices you wish to enjoy your music the way you want. Right now they have a promotion that gives you 50 free MP3 downloads that do not count against your subscription limits so check them out. Their web site says they have over 700,000 songs so you’re sure to find something you like.
UPDATE: I just found on hypebot news about a partnership between eMusic and CompUSA. Consumers who buy any item at CompUSA will receive 100 free downloads from eMusic. CompUSA will also sell eMusic gift cards so customers can give the gift of music downloads. The cards are available in 15, 20, and 65 song capacities for $7.50, $9.99, and $29.99 respectively. Cool cross promotional idea.
