At the DEMXPO conference this morning…Anne Sweeney, Co-Chairman, Media Networks, The Walt Disney Company, and President, Disney-ABC Television Group, is speaking in the morning keynote chat.
She’s talking about Disney/ABC’s deal with Apple for the iPod. She says for her company, partners are big. “We need to work with people who value our content as much as we do…partners who protect us against piracy.”
These kind of deals will only work for certain kind of shows…for others, it might destroy them.
Working with the likes of Yahoo: She says the reason why they’re working with Apple iTunes is because they put ABC brand upfront and is paramount for them. If you look at Google or Yahoo, they have the same ability…these are not exclusive deals.
Countries to watch out for: She says UK, where there’s a lot of innovation happening on the mobile side. Then on the ITV and satellite side too…
Nothing much else to write about…everyone needs some coffee.
