Japanese Ad Agency Dentsu, Five Japanese Networks Discussing Internet TV JV


Japan’s largest ad agency and five networks — TBS, Fuji, Nippon, TV Asahi and TV Tokyo — are working on an internet TV joint venture, according to Reuters. They would provide content aimed at the increasing number of Japanese households using fiber optic for internet access. The broadcasters need to prove they can take advantage of broadband while Dentsu is counting on 30 percent annual growth in web advertising for at least the next few years.
Softbank had discussions with the networks and Dentsu but isn’t part of this effort.
