This is really an Australian piece… Destra, which was one of the first online music services in Australia, has signed an agreement with SonyBMG to sell the labels music as full track downloads to mobile phones as well as true tones, wall papers and movie video clips.
The company is currently in discussions with 3G operators in the SE Asia region to support its audio and video technology.
One label isn’t going to provide a fantastic service, but Destra has never been shy about launching with only a few deals — it launched its online music store with WMA files from only Festival Mushroom Records and EMI… and Sony BMG is pretty big. As a side note, its online music service cut the price of its songs to 89c when Apple launched its iTunes store, around half the $1.69 songs cost on iTunes Australia.
