San Francisco Examiner: Indian city Chennai is part of an initiative called “Digital Sister Cities”.
It is an initiative that will help integrate digital media education and industry in San Francisco with places as far flung as Chennai, India, and Skopje, Macedonia.
The cities include Chennai, Skopje and Dublin, Guadalajara, Mexico, Prague, Czech Republic, Singapore and Toronto. The program will encourage investment and integration between digital media companies located in sister cities, develop joint educational opportunities to prepare students for digital media careers and enhance connectivity between the cities.
Sally Jo Fifer, president of the Independent Television Service, said the initiative could help her reduce the cost of producing shows by having them produced in countries where they can be made cheaper.
