– Small Telcos Vie for Video: While telco giants such as Verizon and AT&T are making noisy forays into video delivery, the deployment of such services isn’t limited to those with deep pockets. Relatively tiny telco players–such as Phonoscope, SureWest and Polar Communications–are using their pipes to deliver the triple play of services that has primarily been the domain of larger telco and cable companies.
– Hong Kong Broadband-TV Service Expands: Hong Kong’s IPTV service, Now Broadband TV, said it reached 500,000 subscribers this week. The service, started by telecom-service company PCCW Ltd. in September 2003, is currently the world’s largest TV system delivered over a broadband network.
