Not exactly breaking news but CBS chairman Les Moonves says the company is talking to Google and Yahoo about potential video search and distributions options. Moonves to Reuters: “They need our content, we need their technology. “We argue about which is more important. I think ultimately my content, no matter how you get it, content is still the most important thing.” Possible deals include video search and VOD.
CBS has been testing the waters: the premiere episode of UPN’s “Everybody Hates Chris” was free VOD on Google Video for a limited time and CBS just announced a deal with Comcast to make some shows available on VOD for 99 cents. Moonves says the company also has talked to DirecTV. “I think you’ll see more and more of those deals happening along the way, as well as you’ll see more and more deals like ABC did with the iPod.”
Is there any company CBS isn’t talking to?
